Kosher Cell Phones
The months-long effort of gedolei Yisroel led by Maran
HaRav Eliashiv shlita bore fruit last week as an
agreement was signed between the Vaadat Rabbonim LeInyonei
Tikshoret and the MIRS company to supply special cell phones

Part I
"`They stood at the foot of the mountain' (Shemos
19:17). R' Avdimi bar Chama bar Chasa said: `This teaches us
that HaKodosh Boruch Hu held the mountain on top of
them like a barrel and told them, "It is preferable you
accept the Torah upon yourselves, for if not you will be
buried there" ' (Shabbos 88a)."

Observations: Israeli Army Frowns on Computer Games
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
The IDF told Yediot Acharonot that incoming recruits
who say that they are avid players of the popular computer
game "Dungeons and Dragons" are detached from reality and are
automatically given a low security clearance, making them
unfit for elite units. The IDF does not determine whether the
game is a cause or an effect of a weak personality. It just
notes the association.

Additional Luach Information
Ta'anis Esther falls on Wednesday, 13 II Adar (Mar.
24). The takonoh of the ta'anis was to remember
that the Jews fasted and beseeched Hashem, in the times of
Esther, to save them from their enemies. The minhag is
to give three half shekels as a zecher to the
machtzis hashekel.
Purim falls on Friday, 14 II Adar (Mar. 25) and Shushan Purim
falls on Shabbos, 15 II Adar (Mar. 26). Shushan Purim (15 II
Adar) that falls for Yerushalayim and other cities that are
mukofos chomah on Shabbos is called this year Purim
HaMeshulash (Triple Purim) since its mitzvos are
carried out on three days, erev Shabbos, Shabbos, and
Sunday. On erev Shabbos the Megillah is read
and matonos le'evyonim are given out to the poor. On
Shabbos al hanissim is said in all tefillos and
birkas hamozon. On Sunday we send mishlo'ach
monos and eat the Purim meal but we do not say al
hanissim.
