Yeshivas Meichayil El Chayil -- Special Ovos Uvonim Learning Session on Motzei Yom Kippur

Rabbi Tzvi Cohen, maranan verabonon's candidate of choice for the post of Elad City Council, won the election with a large majority of 80 percent of all votes. A united chareidi list called Shay -- Shas, Degel HaTorah Ve'olam Hachassidut -- won 9 of 13 seats on the local council.

In an inspection performed by Jerusalem Rabbinate kashrus inspectors, numerous worms were found in Burri fish, even those that were checked and certified previously by mehadrin kashrus committees.

Most Israeli Dairy Farms Avoided Chilul Shabbos and Yom Tov

Despite previous concerns Israel's major dairies remained closed during the two days of Rosh Hashanah and Shabbos Kodesh and large-scale chilul Shabbos was averted due to the amount of milk stored at the dairy farms. According to the Milk Council, because monetary incentives were not provided to throw milk away most of the dairies found ways of storing three days of milk.

Knesset Lobby Promotes Ties with Missionary Organizations

A lobby of MKs is working in the Knesset "to promote ties with Christian communities around the world." The two chairmen of the lobby are MK Yair Peretz (Shas) and MK Yuri Stern (HaIchud HaLeumi). Recently, the two sent Israeli parents letters inside of pen and pencil cases provided by Christian organizations, claiming the gift was intended "to build friendship between Christians worldwide and Israel."

Thousands of Bnei Brak residents took part in the levaya on motzei Shabbos parshas Nitzovim- Vayeilech 26 Elul, of HaRav Avrohom Halevi Horowitz zt"l, a talmid of the Chazon Ish and the talmid muvhok of the Steipler, a prominent member of Kollel Chazon Ish and the author of Devar Halochoh on the halochos of yichud and Iteir Yad, who succumbed to illness at the age of 79.
