Although it's not yet time for the song of the turtledove to
be heard in the land, there is a flock of songbirds coming to
Israel for a week's migration.
Ilanit, an ensemble of girls studying at Etz Chaim school in
Moscow, the first Jewish school of its kind, and its
ebullient director, Rebbetzin Dara Goldschmidt, will be
visiting Israel for a week's tour. For the girls, this will
be the realization of a lifelong dream. For us, it is an
opportunity to enjoy the very talented, colorful and
enthusaistic group which will be performing in Russian,
Hebrew and Yiddish. And if you enjoy their memorable
performance, you can take a disc home with you.
Though it is the first trip to Israel for these girls, the 14-
member ensemble have already performed in Antwerp. The girls
were so impressed with Jewish life in Belgium that they said
they felt like they were in Eretz Yisroel. Now, Boruch
Hashem, they really will be.
Rebbetzin Goldschmidt is hoping that this will be the first
of many visits to Israel, provided she can get them back on
the plane, once they've been here! Their performance promises
to be more than a musical experience; it is a spiritual
odyssy, inspired as well as inspiring, as Etz Chaim's
branches spread from Russia to Israel, reconnecting with its
roots.
Three concerts are schedule between the girls' hectic touring
in Israel.
The ensemble will be performing on Motzaei Shabbos Voeyra,
January 8/28 Teves in Bnei Brak at Ulam Mifal Hapayis in
Ramat Elchanon. The show is scheduled to begin at 8:00.
Tickets are available at the Luxembourg Travel Agency on
Rabbi Akiva St.

5966.
