"Friends of Shearis Yisroel" Work to Expand Shearis
Yisroel Presence in Jerusalem

The Shearis Yisroel Vaad Hakashrus plans to expand operations
in Jerusalem following calls by Maran HaRav Yosef Sholom
Eliashiv to strengthen Shearis Yisroel activities around the
country.
At a meeting attended by the Shearis Yisroel executive board,
Financial Director Rabbi Moshe Elmaliach and the Friends of
Shearis Yisroel-Yishai in Jerusalem, a decision was reached
to open a Shearis Yisroel office in the city, to expand the
hours of the beis horo'oh at Beis Medrash Rashi on
Rechov Tzefania and to strengthen all Shearis Yisroel
communal services for the bnei Torah public in
Jerusalem.
During the meeting, a survey of Shearis Yisroel activities in
Jerusalem was presented, including reports on the expansion
and entrenchment of large, prominent bnei Torah
kehillos in neighborhoods around the city, which is
creating a demand for the expanded distribution of Shearis
Yisroel food products. Today the Vaad Hakashrus grants
hechsherim to hundreds of products, and through
focused efforts these products can be made available at all
of the city's food stores.
