Tried and True Seguloh

The following is a letter I received from a prominent talmid chochom following a droshoh I gave at Beis Knesses Naos Yosef:

Dear Rabbi Yehoshua Shklar, shlita,

On Shabbos Night of Parshas Vayigash, besiyato deShmaya I had the opportunity to hear stirring words about the important project to strengthen "tottering" Jews and return them to the study of the Holy Torah.

I would like to add that on Shabbos Kodesh Parshas Toldos of this year HaRav Chaim Kamil was in Jerusalem's Ramot neighborhood and after Ma'ariv on Shabbos Night a long line formed in front of him to receive his brochoh. One of the avreichim, who has not had children for seven years, lo oleinu, approached him for a brochoh. The Gaon shlita told him to refer to the Midrash Rabboh on Parshas Emor 27, 2 (see also Parshas Nosso 14, 2), which says if one pays sechar melamdim before he is obligated to pay, HaKodosh Boruch Hu is obligated, so to speak, to give him a boy so that the obligation can be fulfilled. And [HaRav Kamil] told him to speak with the principal of the cheder and ask him about a talmid who is having difficulties in his studies, etc. and that [the avreich] should give him a sum of money to have the melamed stay late to spend extra time with the talmid who is having difficulties and to give him a boost and teach him, and through this he will have the merit to be blessed with a child, besiyato deShmaya.

He added that he had already said this to certain people and they had been sent yeshuos within a short time. (I heard this firsthand.)
