Silent Choices
by Sara Gutfreund

Two friends meet after a decade apart. One of them has married and moved to Israel. The other one has stayed in New York and focused on her career. They are worlds apart.

Not Alone Any More
by A. Shira

He never spoke to a soul about his loss, preferring to come to terms with the tragedy on his own. He sat in his room for hours, thinking about what had happened to his mates. How could anyone who had not been pulled from a burning tank begin to understand the enormity of what had happened.

STORIES OF YESTERYEAR
Escape on a Dark Shabbos Night

by Yisca Shimony

Korach, says the Gemora, was a clever man. Too clever. He looked into the future and saw great descendants - but he read it wrong.

This is a story of the mother of the Rosh, grandmother of the Baal Haturim, who was visited by a heavenly messenger in order to save her offspring destined to become gedolei Yisroel.

A Bike Story

by Risa Rotman

This story happened only a couple of years ago and all the facts are true. My eldest son was learning in a yeshiva ketana in the neighborhood at the time. He had already come home from his long day of learning and suddenly there was knock on the door.

Seeing is Believing
An Interview with Binyamin Huma
by Shira Levy

Synopsis: Reuven and Surah Huma met, married, and had their children in New York. When Binyaminm, born blind, was nine years old, and Mazel (now Shira Levy's daughter-in-law), one year older, the family made aliya. Most of their family on both sides live here in Israel, so it was natural for them to make aliya. Reuven and Surah both speak Hebrew and English in their home so there was no problem for the children to learn the language once they moved here to Israel.

The Segula
A true story by Yonina Hall

Her darling new granddaughter isn't the only miracle on Chana's mind these days. It seems that the arrival of this sweet pink bundle brought even more blessings in its wake.

In Order to Get Anywhere, You Need to Know Where You're Going
by Tzvia Ehrlich-Klein, Jerusalem

Though I've known it for years, it was only today that it really hit me, with all of its implications and repercussions: In order to get anywhere, you need to know where you are going.

A Little Piece of Heaven
by Rosally Saltsman

Both Shabbos and sleep are compared to a fraction of the next world, one sixtieth, to be precise. That means that the pleasure and peace, the contentment and spiritual elevation that we experience at those times are a taste of things to come.

One Step at a Time
by A. Ross

The word "patterning" was coined about 40 years ago. Some experts in child development claimed that if a very badly retarded child was stimulated both mentally and physically, and forcibly made to do things which a normally developing baby does automatically, he would develop more rapidly.

Common Thread
by Rosally Saltsman

I had the displeasure of witnessing a meeting between my landlord, their previous tenant, both sides' lawyers and a court-appointed appraiser. I had to witness it because it was taking place in my apartment. Having no choice and having finished straightening up, reading the paper and saying Tehillim, I observed the proceedings from my perch on the living room couch.

Your Medical Questions Answered!
by Joseph B. Leibman, MD

Does eating fat cause more cancer? Well it has been proven in colon cancer and breast cancer and I have yet to see a study that says eating fat is healthy. True it is the staple of the low carbohydrate diets, but we do not know how dangerous they are. We do know that fat is hard to get rid of: The body will burn protein stores before it even touches the fat stores.
