Government and Gaza Residents Agree on Nitzanim Relocation

The government's disengagement plan ground slowly but surely
forward this week as representatives of the government and
the residents of Gaza agreed on the basic terms of a plan to
resettle a large number of the Gaza residents in a single
block in the Nitzanim area.

one of the great mashgichim of our generation who left
his imprint on thousands, passed away on the second night of
Chol Hamoed Pesach 5765 at the age of 90. As per his request

Ravitz and Rabbi Moshe Gafni are demanding the Prime Minister
carry out the section of the coalition agreement stating that

Interior Minister Reports 4,000 Conversions in Progress

Some 4,000 people are currently undergoing conversion
proceedings, including Reform and Conservative "conversions"
and the Falashmura, said Interior Minister Ophir Pines during
a meeting of the Knesset Immigration and Absorption Committee
on Monday to discuss the Interior Ministry's preparations to
implement the High Court's recent decision.

issued rulings banning participation in lectures and

Police Storm Satmar Beis Medrash in Jerusalem

The department for investigations of police officers at the
Justice Ministry plans to open an investigation against a
squad from a special police patrol unit (Yechidat Siyur
Merchavi) which burst into the Satmar beis medrash on
Rechov Yoel in Jerusalem and went on a rampage, breaking the
main door and beating congregants with rifles and clubs and
arresting several.
Sharansky quits Government over Withdrawal

Minister of Jerusalem and Diaspora Affairs Natan Sharansky
has left the Israeli government rather than take part in the
withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. Sharansky tendered his
resignation Monday, accusing the Sharon government of failing
to demand Palestinian reform as a prerequisite to peace
moves.

When it is Permissible to Attack Religious Institutions
Three years ago at this time, Israeli forces were laying
siege to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. A total of
123 armed Palestinian men were inside, having taken refuge
there as Israeli troops swept through the city looking for
them. 13 of them were known murderers.

Three Lines in History

The rebellion in the Warsaw Ghetto is frequently pictured in
Israeli society as the heroic effort of a small group of
youths determined to commit suicide in order to "die with
honor." The "heroism" of the ghetto rebels is contrasted to
the "cowardliness" of the six million kedoshim, who
are accused of having "gone like lambs to the slaughter," to
what is called a "disgraceful and humiliating" death.

Punishments

It would be a utopian world if there were never any need for
reprimand or castigation. Whether it is in the home or at
school, there are times when punishment is needed. Some
fortunate teachers can enter the classroom, greet the
children, give an order and have instant obedience.
