At Ganei Tal on Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. MK Tzvi Hendel (HaIchud
HaLeumi), one of the first settlers in Gush Katif and a
leader among the settlers for 30 years, waits. Two ranking
Air Force officers knock on the door. "In accordance with the
decision of the government and the Knesset we have come to
remove you from your home," says one of the officers, whose
stars indicate he is a major general.
A special court commissioned by the High Court convicted
Judge Hila Cohen of the Haifa Magistrate Court of improper
discharge of duty and conduct unbecoming a judge. She was
then sentenced to a reprimand and a job transfer, although
Judge Arad wanted to have her permanently removed from the
bench.
The settlements along the Gaza coast did not only grow bug-
free vegetables, as some people might have imagined. Many
hothouses raised cherry tomatoes and other "finicky"
vegetables. Others grew flowers and potted flowers sold
primarily in Europe.
Lev L'Achim workers arrived at the Nes Amim Guesthouse in
the Galilee to warn vacationers that they were staying at a
missionary center.
The public is called upon to pray for HaRav Moshe Shmuel Shapira,
rosh yeshivas Beer Yaakov and the son-in-law of the Brisker Rov.
After 20 years, the Yad Sarah branch in Neveh Dekalim in the
Gaza Strip closed its doors on Tuesday, August 16th/11 Av.
The branch had been open five days a week, and was manned by
12 volunteers, all residents of Gush Katif settlements. The
volunteers lent hundreds of items of medical rehabilitative
equipment annually. Among those who borrowed equipment were
area residents injured during the last four years of terror.
HaRav Aharon Shakovitzky, zt"l, one of Yeshivas
Slabodka-Chevron leading alumni, passed away at the age of 93
on 5 Av in Bnei Brak.
Worrying about the Day After the Disengagement
It is already the "day after" the Disengagement, much sooner
than anyone had expected. The media will pack up and look for
the next drama that will capture the attention of the world
audience. Orange strips of cloth will continue to decorate
children's bikes. Everyone else will carry on with their
lives.
Ahavoh and Emunoh — Comparisons and Differences. And
What is the Way to Love of Him?
Part II
The first part discussed the basic difference between
ahavoh and emunoh: the latter is an internal
action that does not require the object. One can believe in
something even if that thing is not present. Love, on the
other hand, is a relationship that requires the presence of
a beloved object.
WITH ALL OF ME
Presenting here Part II of Chapter 2 from a short but very
worthwhile book by SARA GLASER, known to a wide public as
the initiator of the Lifesaver's Guide. We hope you
find this autobiography, making its debut in YATED,
interesting and inspirational.

The Shabbos after Tishah B'Av is called Shabbos
Nachamu because of the haftorah in Yeshaya 40
"Console, console My people" that is said on that Shabbos.
This haftoroh starts a series of shivah
denechemosah (seven haftoros of consolation).
The fifteenth of Menachem Av (Tu B'Av) is considered a Yom
Tov because of several reasons: First, it is the day that
bnei Yisroel stopped dying in the Sinai Desert.
Second, bnei Yisroel were then allowed to marry from
one shevet to the other, and those from shevet
Binyomin were allowed to marry within bnei Yisroel.
Third, on this day Hoshei'a ben Aloh removed the barricades
originally put up by Yerovam ben Navot preventing bnei
Yisroel to be oleh regel. Fourth, bnei
Yisroel then stopped chopping down wood for the
mizbei'ach and therefore they had more time to study
Torah. Sixth, on this day those killed in Beitar were
buried.
