Gaza Mosque Welcomes London Attacks

In a reaction similar to the reaction in Palestinian areas to
the 9/11 attacks in New York, the London terror attacks were
welcomed within the Palestinian territories, according to a
report in Yediot Acharonot.

Petitions Against Yeshiva Military Deferments

Remarks against the chareidi sector by High Court Vice
President Judge Michel Cheshin met harsh reactions on Monday.
During a hearing on a petition against military exemptions
for yeshiva students based on "Toraso Umnaso status"
on Sunday, Judge Mishael Cheshin expressed his resentment of
the growing number of yeshiva students using the words,
"Vayirbu vayifru vayishretzu beme'od me'od."
Fake Bomb Apparently Planted by Disengagement Opponents

A device that appeared to be a bomb that was found in the
Central Bus Station and caused severe disruption in
Yerushalayim turned out to have apparently been planted by
opponents of the Gaza Disengagement. Senior police officials
expressed their outrage Tuesday morning over the fake bomb at
the Jerusalem bus station that was found on Monday night at
around 7:30 p.m.
HaRav Adler and HaRav Efrati Officially Appointed; MK
Porush Files Police Complaint Against Jerusalem Religious
Council

HaRav Binyomin Adler and HaRav Yosef Efrati received
official, written appointments authorizing them to issue
kashrus certificates in the name of the Jerusalem Rabbinate
based on a unanimous decision in a meeting of the Chief
Rabbinical Council convened by Chief Rabbi Yonah Metzger.
However so far most of the kashrus in Yerushalayim is not yet
under their supervision in practice.
Beit Shemesh Mayor Rejects Attempt to Halt Chareidi
Construction

Beit Shemesh Mayor Daniel Vaknin rejected an anti-chareidi
initiative by secular and national-religious councilmen
intended to halt construction for the chareidi public and to
change the building plan for the future Ramat Beit Shemesh
Gimmel to prevent chareidim from purchasing apartments.
Vaknin announced the formation of a panel of experts to
discuss these issues following a request by the city's
chareidi councilmen.
In 5769 Every Fourth Child will be Enrolled in Chareidi
Education System

The number of students enrolled in the education system will
rise to 1,456,000 in 5769 (2009) according to projections
recently released by the Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS).
Enrollment will increase by 75,000 students and the Arab
sector will increase by 65,000 students. In contrast secular
Jewish government schools will decrease by 42,000
students.
First Agudas Yisroel Conference in South America Held in
Sao Paolo

Sao Paulo, Brazil for rabbonim and public figures from all of
South America intended to foster cooperation and to

large-scale project in Yeruchom initiated by Binyan Sholem, a
housing company founded by Degel HaTorah of Jerusalem, and
backed by maranan verabonon as part of efforts to
solve the housing crisis in the chareidi sector.
Foreign Ministry Issues Directive to Prevent Foreign
Officials from Visiting on Shabbos

The Foreign Ministry issued a directive requiring visits by
ranking foreign officials to Israel to take place during the
week and not on Shabbos said Mr. Rafi Shutz, deputy director
of scheduling at the Foreign Ministry, in a letter to MK
Rabbi Moshe Gafni.
Hatzoloh Warns Public to Exercise Caution in Heat

In light of unusually hot weather forecasts for the coming
days in Eretz Yisroel, Hatzoloh Yisroel is reminding
the public to adhere to heat-safety guidelines to avoid harm
resulting from heat stroke, sunstroke, sunburn, and other
heat- related dangers.

London's Mayor Ken Livingstone, known for courting Moslem
clerics and criticizing Jewish guards, cannot be accused of
having been under undue Jewish influence in his views. Yet

In the first part, HaRav Diskin cited the example of the
dedication of the Menorah by the Maccabeeim on the
original Chanukah that showed that even if they could have
used impure oil to light the Menorah since it was for
communal purposes, since they were setting the foundation in
chinuch of the Menorah they had to use pure oil
in order to ensure that the subsequent avodas Hashem
using it would be proper.
