IDF Steps Up Pressure on Terror Groups

In an apparent response to the two recent bus bombings in Jerusalem, the IDF has increased the pressure on the terror groups, including the targeted killing of a senior Islamic Jihad terrorist and two terrorist companions. The attack came almost exactly a week after a suicide bomber murdered eight people on a bus in Jerusalem.

Betzedek Files High Court Petitions Against New Government Funding Regulations

Betzedek has filed a High Court petition challenging the legality of the strict new regulations for pubic institutions submitting requests for state funding, as well as another petition against monetary sanctions imposed against institutions where administrative defects were found, asking for their cancellation and an interim order to block their immediate implementation.


Pig Head Laid on Stairs of Beis Knesses in Haifa

Police are investigating an incident in which a pig's head was laid on the stairs of Beis Knesses Bnei Torah on Arlozorov Street in Haifa. Evidence has been collected from the scene but so far there are no suspects and the case has been turned over to police investigations, MK Yaakov Edri (Likud) reported to a Knesset plenum in response to a parliamentary question by MK David Azoulai (Shas). He denounced the incident, saying the perpetrator deserves to be severely censured.


High Radiation Levels Not Found at Bnei Brak Schools

Tests conducted in Bnei Brak schools found measured radiation levels far below even the strict Israeli standards. These were on a list of 33 schools that were said to be "at risk" to exposure from radiation from power lines.

Hague Trial: French Professor Defends Suicide Bombings

The three days of hearings in the Hague on Israel's security barrier closed after the 15 judges in black robes heard a professor from France defend suicide bombings and question Israel's right to exist. The judges did not react to her testimony.


Experimental System to Keep Suicide Bombers off Buses

Five buses equipped with a protection system against suicide bombers were brought into use after being officially unveiled by the Transportation Minister and the heads of Egged and Dan. Three were handed over to Dan and two to Egged of Jerusalem.

Contractors Not Submitting Bids in Elad

All of the contractors that showed any interest in a Housing Ministry tender for the construction of 72 single-family housing units in Elad decided not to submit bids, apparently because of the high entry-level price the ministry set.

Youths Urged Not to Smoke on Purim

"Many people started smoking on Purim under the excuse of simchah, but later they were unable to quit," notes the City of Bnei Brak's Education Department in a letter to parents of talmidim throughout the city as part of a comprehensive campaign to discourage smoking among youths.

Hating Evil Leads to Pure Spiritual Simchah

The mitzvah of remembering Amolek is not just to recall historical incidents, but to remind us to hate all evil. According to the Rambam: "The 189th [Mitzvas Asei] is that He has commanded us to remember what Amolek did to us when hastening to do evil to us.
