No lengthy explanation is required to reiterate the sublime
greatness of the Or HaChaim HaKodosh commentary on the Torah.
Every year, it is learned in yeshivas, and in many botei
midrash, a weekly shiur has been instituted for learning
the Or HaChaim HaKodosh every Shabbos.
Participants in the shiurim feel this to be a
fundamental sefer, which imparts an in-depth shitta of
learning, and a superb understanding of Torah and Chazal,
concomitant with a spirit of holiness and yiras Shomayim.
It is known that careful study and consideration of every
word is required in order to fully grasp the essence of the
Or HaChaim.
HaRav Ephraim Moshe Korngut's new series of seforim,
Chumash Or HaChaim with the Yismach Moshe Commentary
enables all readers to apprehend something of the holy
meaning emanating from the Or HaChaim HaKodosh, both in the
field of iyun and pilpul, as well as in the
realm of mussar and aggada.
HaRav Korngut performed an enormous task, bringing down in
his commentary sources and explanations from the Midrash,
the Zohar, the writings of the Ari HaKodosh, and
many others, and elaborating the exact meaning of the text of
the Or HaChaim HaKodosh.
Many years of giving a weekly shiur on Or HaChaim HaKodosh
have contributed to crystallization of the Yismach Moshe
commentary which HaRav Korngut has written.
The work has received important haskomos, including that of
HaRav Yisroel Fisher zt"l together with his Beith Din
Tzedek of the Eida HaChareidis, and that of the Beis Din of
HaRav Shmuel HaLevi Wosner shlita.
Three volumes have so far been published: Shemos in
two volumes (Shemos to Yisro, and Mishpotim
to Pekudei), and Devorim (Devorim to
Re'ei).
HaRav Korngut should merit to publish his commentary on the
remainder of the Or HaChaim HaKadosh on the Torah, and on the
Or HaChaim's other commentaries on Shas.
