On Sunday The Hague became the new arena for European
antisemitism in anticipation of the opening of the hearing on
the security fence. The international courthouse is located
in a secluded palace surrounded by a wall and a large garden
that separate it from the streets.
Inside, Arab countries and the Third World indicted Israel
before the judges, who refused to disqualify themselves
despite the monotony of the prosecution without a second side
or defense. It was a one-sided trial reminiscent of the
Stalinist show trials. Outside, the European hate camp and
the Arabs hold anti-Israel and antisemitic demonstrations,
pressuring the judges to issue harsher rulings.
Arabs from different parts of Europe are streaming in, and
Jews from around the world are also coming. The mayor of the
Dutch city has already accused the Israelis of civil disorder
just for asking to demonstrate with photographs of suicide
victims.
The bloody attack in Jerusalem did not have much impact on
the local atmosphere. The prosecutors and the demonstrators
claim Israel itself is responsible for the suicide attack
since it has closed the Palestinians behind walls and
roadblocks, and is preventing United Nations decisions from
being carried out.
The trial is being held despite the Europeans' admission at
an EU conference last week in Brussels that criticism of
Israel is becoming more and more antisemitic, with
propagandizing on the destruction of Israel. The Europeans
said when criticism makes use of old Christian and Nazi
images it has crossed over from criticism to antisemitism.
The extreme left and Islam have been accused of directing the
new antisemitism. At The Hague they are being joined by the
Arab League, the UN, the Palestinians and the judges. The
European Union promised to wage a battle against
antisemitism, but they too seem incapable of stopping the
course of events.
