Wireless System for Burglaries on Shabbos in Bnei
Brak
by A. Cohen
A wireless warning system to prevent break-ins and to provide
updates and reports to residents in different areas via
gabboim and kehilloh contact figures will soon
be installed in Bnei Brak with assistance from the Jewish
Agency and the Home Front Command. The decision was reached
at a working meeting between Bnei Brak Mayor Rabbi Yissochor
Frankentahl, IDF Dan Region Commander Colonel Yechiel Sofer
and Home Front Command budget department head Colonel Shimon
Yifrach.
City of Bnei Brak Secretary and Spokesman Avrohom Tanenbaum
said various proposals were made to address the need to
transmit information in emergency situations to the city
residents, the vast majority of whom keep Torah and mitzvas,
who have limited access to the electronic media. To
accommodate this situation, Beeper Tikshoret designed a
computerized satellite message transmission system resembling
those in use in settlements in the Upper Galilee, Judea,
Samaria and Gaza.
The wireless anti-burglary system features a coordinated
report and warning system, reports and warnings to
gabboim and other kehilloh contact figures,
access options to disseminate reports, including a citywide
activating center and beeper emergency headquarters,
transmission priority for emergency activation personnel, an
ability to tolerate heavy loads and continued operation
during electric outages, and integrated updates to
households, bomb shelters, public institutions and emergency
response squads.
The main features of the field units are auditory alerts and
vibration to indicate incoming messages to beepers, auditory
and visual indications on the message report devices,
automatic message display, an option to integrate outside
emergency squads in the Home Front Command and Magen David
Adom, and an ability to store recorded messages in order to
reconstruct events and oversee developing events.
The system features extensive experience in emergency
response oversight, priority delineation for security, rescue
and health personnel, warnings of incipient emergencies,
instructions and updates to residents during the event,
notification when event terminates, connection to the Home
Front Command's national siren and public-address system,
constant updates on routine events and integration of
personal messages from family members and acquaintances.
