R' Reuven Mizrachi's life was miraculously spared from a
Qassam rocket that landed near him at a potato packing plant
in an industrial zone in the Negev outside Sderot last
week.
Mizrachi, a kashrus supervisor for Kashrut Lemehadrin --
Chakla'ut Al Pi HaTorah, arrived at the plant early in the
morning last Tuesday to oversee the produce arriving and
leaving on trucks bound for market. Shortly after 8:00 am,
the mashgiach went up to his room for a short break to
sit and learn. Suddenly, at exactly 8:15, a loud whistling
sound was followed by a powerful blast that shook the entire
area.
The Qassam rocket fired from the Gaza Strip exploded right
near his room and according to the bomb squad inspection a
large fragment from the rocket landed inside the room where
the mashgiach was sitting and learning. It was also
discovered that moments earlier the mashgiach had
walked by the exact spot where the rocket fell. He suffered
only a few scratches from flying glass; the refrigeration
technician at the plant sustained moderate injuries.
Mizrachi, who resumed his holy work despite the incident,
gave thanks to HaKodosh Boruch Hu for the great
miracle that happened to him, saying he was spared from the
rocket attack through the merit of maintaining kashrus and
learning Torah.
