Supersol Decides Not to Operate on Shabbos or Sell Non- Kosher Food
by G. Kleiman

Supersol Chairman Nochi Dankner reached a decision recently not to open the chain of stores on Shabbos and not to bring non-kosher food products into the stores.

The decision was made last week at a meeting to finalize a new strategic plan the chain has been working on for several months with the assistance of international consultation company, McKinsey. A Supersol spokesman confirmed the report.

The issue of operations on Shabbos was raised for discussion because the number of Supersol customers who demand non- kosher food items and Shabbos hours has risen sharply. This factor is of particular relevance in certain locations where competing chains are open on Shabbos.

According to sources the board said even if other chains decide to operate on Shabbos, Supersol will not follow their example.
