El Al Airlines recently notified members of its Frequent
Flyer & Loyal Traveler `club' of changes in its policies. As
of July 1st, as part of a number of changes in its point
system, points more than three years old can no longer be
combined with new points accumulated thereafter.
I am happy to advise you that your `useless' points can be
donated to chessed organizations such as Ezra Lemarpeh
for paying to transport people abroad for urgent medical
treatment.
The medical help organization Ezra Lemarpeh has a special
arrangement with El Al whereby several different travelers'
unused points can be combined to add up to a free ticket.
These points, once given to Ezra Lemarpeh, do not
expire. The tickets earned by the points are used only to
fly patients with life- threatening illnesses abroad for
treatment.
Ezra Lemarpeh has flown tens of patients for foreign medical
treatment. Several months ago, enough points accumulated to
allow Ezra Lemarpeh to fly two groups of children with cancer
-- a group of boys and a group of girls -- to Switzerland for
a vacation and to regain their strength.
To donate points to Ezra Lemarpeh, fax your request to El
Al's Frequent Flyer's Club. The fax number in Israel is (03)
971-1398. Tell them that you want to donate your points to
Ezra Lemarpeh, #PL2231348.
Ezra Lemarpeh's own fax number is (03) 616-1177.
By contributing to frum chessed organizations,
your points will genuinely be used for saving lives.
This is also true of credit card points. Contact your
chessed organization directly, or leave a message at
054-5953734 and I will call back.
