Torah Book Week in Jerusalem
By Betzalel Kahn
Torah Book Week (Shovu'a Hasefer Hatorani), sponsored
by the City of Jerusalem's Department of Torah Culture, will
continue until motzei Shabbos parshas Korach.
Dozens of leading publishers are taking part in the book fair
held at the chareidi mall, Rav Shefa, Wednesday and Thursday
evenings from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., on Friday from 9:30 am
to 1:30 p.m. and on motzei Shabbos until midnight.
Department of Torah Culture Director Rabbi Gavriel Shtauber
says this year more stalls have been added and the number of
books on sale has increased. With the help of Mr. Natti
Metzger, director of Rav Shefa, extensive thought went into
the design and layout of the stalls, he adds.
Rabbi Avrohom Yuda Feiner, a member of the City Council who
holds the Torah Culture portfolio, says he attaches great
importance to the event both as a good, low-priced service
for Torah book consumers and an opportunity--ika darko
achrino--to avoid visiting book fairs held in places
unsuitable for the chareidi public.
