Betzedek Asks High Court to Transfer Withheld Funding

Betzedek, the American-Israeli center for the promotion of justice in Israel funded by Agudas Yisroel of America, filed High Court appeals against the Justice Ministry's Non- Government Organizations Registrar, the Finance Ministry's Accountant General, the Welfare Ministry's accountant and the Justice Ministry's head of support funding in the matter of funding withheld from NGOs that have a valid Temporary Proper Management Certificate.


Israel Economy Shoots Up in First Quarter

Blowing past the revised, optimistic forecasts of the Bank of Israel and the Finance Ministry, the preliminary figures released by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) showed that the Israeli economy grew at an annual rate of 5.5 percent in the first quarter of the calendar year. The CBS said that the figures may be revised, and should generally be interpreted with caution since there can be significant variation from quarter to quarter.

Matrix Opens Offices in Modi'in Illit

Matrix opened a facility in Modi'in Illit this week where women will be employed as computer programmers. Thirty seminary graduates are taking part in the training course that began on Sunday to prepare them to work as employees at the conclusion of the three-month course, which will be followed by courses for more women.

Finance Committee Finally Approves Transfer of NIS 32 Million for Yeshivas

Following six months of delays and exhausting struggles by chareidi representatives in the Knesset Finance Committee against MK Roni Brizon (Shinui), on Monday the committee approved the transfer of NIS 32 million in yeshiva funding from 2003 budget surplus.


IDF Launches Extended Rafah Operation

IDF troops and armored vehicles massed on the outskirts of Rafah Monday night, ready to enter the town. The large-scale operation aims to arrest armed fugitives, seek out and destroy bomb factories, and destroy houses used to hide exits from weapons-smuggling tunnels.
