Matrix opened a facility in Modi'in Illit this week where
women will be employed as computer programmers. Thirty
seminary graduates are taking part in the training course
that began on Sunday to prepare them to work as employees at
the conclusion of the three-month course, which will be
followed by courses for more women.
The project is designed to boost employment among Modi'in
Illit women. Council Head Rabbi Yaakov Gutterman blessed the
group, saying their success will help bring a change in the
high unemployment rate in the town and will encourage other
companies to invest in local facilities where women workers
would be employed.
With 1,800 employees and billions of shekels in annual
turnover, Matrix is one of Israel's larger high-tech
companies. The company is active primarily in the fields of
developing integrated software products, consulting and
outsourcing, and providing services for the financial sector,
the public sector, manufacturing and commerce, security,
telecom and high-tech. Other areas of activity include
applying technologies and portals, presenting and marketing
software products, sales and service and guidance and
assimilation.
The company has extensive experience in locating and
recruiting professional workforces as well as familiarity and
experience in the area of suiting professional manpower to
project needs. Rabbi Gutterman contacted the company not long
ago and since then has worked to advance the project which
came to fruition this week with the first group of workers,
who will hopefully pave the way for hundreds of women to get
good jobs.
Matrix Managing-Director Mr. Motti Gutman says he has high
hopes hanging on the women's work at the company and that the
present group in Modi'in Illit will serve as a model for
future endeavors. The goal is to utilize of the professional
human capital among chareidi women. Gutman welcomed the pilot
briefly group saying their success is important to the entire
future of the project.
Speaking to the new workers in the offices located at Merkaz
Ha'asakim Illit, Rabbi Gutterman referred to them as seminary
graduates with extensive professional knowledge and knowledge
of the relevant fields. He also pledged that the Local
Council which he heads would help advance the project as it
did today at various government ministries in order to
provide sources of income for local women. The Council will
also assist Matrix shorten bureaucratic proceedings in
accordance with the managing-director's request.
Gutman asked Rabbi Gutterman to work toward making the
permits Matrix has already obtained from government
ministries take effect. Rabbi Gutterman replied that he would
continue to serve as a liaison for the company in order to
remove barriers. "This is a special and unique project due to
the financial assistance and therefore the entire project
should be seen as an important endeavor that should be
promoted," said the council head.
Following the welcome speeches a delegation toured the
building. A representative of Tzipchah International, Inc.,
developers of Brachfeld Estates, pointed out progress made in
constructing the company's permanent facilities where the
offices and work and training labs will be located. If
necessary the company will rent additional rooms. Rabbi
Gutterman told the managing-director not to hesitate to
contact him to help with any matter related to advancing the
project. He also pledged to do everything in his power to
help more and more women find jobs in the town to allow them
to work in a chareidi environment and to spare them from long
commutes.
