Israel Bans Palestinians from British Forum
Among Several Responses to Terror Attack
by Yated Ne'eman Staff and M Plaut
In the wake of a terrible homicide bombing on Sunday that
murdered 23 and injured more than 100, Israel took a number
of nonviolent steps against Palestinian institutions, barring
Palestinians from attending a conference in London organized
by Britain.
Trans-Israel Highway Contractors Desecrate Ancient
Graves
by Betzalel Kahn
Despite explicit pledges by representatives of the Trans-
Israel company, the Ministry of Transportation and the
Antiquities Authority to halt damage and destruction of
ancient graves recently discovered along the planned route
for the Trans-Israel Highway, last week workers continued
with devastating excavations. Police brutally arrested dozens
of chareidim who came to protest the disturbing
desecration.
Ramat Shlomo Slated for Expansion
by Betzalel Kahn
The Israel Land Authority has authorized Moriah Construction
to execute a large-scale plan for the expansion and
densification of Jerusalem's Ramat Shlomo neighborhood
through the addition of a total of 800 residential units and
a broad sweep of public areas and educational facilities.
A New Division Serves Chassidishe Boys
by Moshe Schapiro
It's a cool motzei Shabbos in downtown Yerushalayim. It's
full of people at this hour. They are mostly young and non-
religious, and some are sitting in the cafes or window-
shopping -- but mostly just "hanging out."
Meaning in the Maelstrom: Agudath Israel's 80th National
Convention
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
In many ways it was a very different Agudath Israel of
America convention. In others, it was a very familiar one.
The location was new: the Stamford Westin Hotel in Stamford,
Connecticut. And the timing, too: As the result of Chanukah
falling at the end of November this year, the convention took
place several weeks later in the Gregorian calendar than
usual.
Dedication of "Chanichei Yeshivas Kol Torah" in Kiryat
Sefer
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
A very moving and uplifting event was celebrated last week in
Kiryat Sefer at the dedication of the new "Chanichei Yeshivas
Kol Torah Beis Medrash" with the participation of the Rosh
Hayeshiva, rabbonim of Kol Torah and its alumni.

Our Perspective on the Election Campaign, 5763
The Israeli political system is centered around the Knesset,
which is made up of political parties. Every citizen who
votes will cast a ballot for one of the parties that
registered to run for election last month. (This time there
will be only a ballot for a party and not a separate ballot
for prime minister, a return to the system that was in force
until about ten years ago.)

The Disease No One Talks About
The Israeli calendar recently dedicated itself to "Mental
Health Week," during which newspapers nationwide headlined
columns as the very one above. The fact that the subject came
out in the open during this week goes to show that mental
illness is still taboo even in the secular society. All the
more so in our own.
