Former Tourism Minister Meets with Reform Rabbis
by Betzalel Kahn

Then Minister of Tourism Benny Alon participated in the annual conference of the Congress of Reform Rabbis in Jerusalem on motzei Shabbos parshas Vayakhel- Pekudei. Five days later Alon resigned.

Minister Alon hosted the Reform rabbis in an evening "dedicated to promoting tourism to Israel" according to the Ministry. The event was held at the Inbal Hotel in Jerusalem.

The Minister spoke before 300 Reform clergy who arrived from around the world for the annual conference in Israel "as an act of identification and a demonstration of solidarity with Israel and its citizens," said the Ministry.

Benny Alon, who previously headed a religious educational institution, surprised chareidi public figures last week when he announced his decision to participate in the conference. By attending the Reform event, they claim, Alon is giving his stamp of approval to Reform efforts to tear down the walls of the Jewish religion in Eretz Hakodesh.
