Oil manufacturer Shemen Industries said on Monday that their
sales have risen by 27 percent in the two months since it
received the four leading kashrus certifications that
it now enjoys. In July its sales were higher by some NIS 4
million.
To meet the higher demand, Shemen has recently been
operating its factories on full output, three shifts a
day.
Boaz Zafrir, Shemen's managing director, said that, "the
growth in sales shows that the general public in Israel is
mature and responsible, and can spot manufacturers offering
quality products with a range of kashrut
certifications, while preserving its financial and
social interests."
He noted that the company produces its products that are
certified by the leading kashrus certifications
including Badatz Shearis Yisroel, Badatz Mehadrin Rechovot,
Kashrus Lemehadrin of HaRav Efrati, and Badatz Machzikei
Hadas (Belz). In light of the close cooperation between the
various agencies, it is expected that the company will
receive further certification soon.
Founded in 1906 as Israel's first oil plant, Shemen produces
oils, yeast products, cleaning products, detergents, and
soaps. The Haifa-based company, which was listed on the Tel
Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) in 1961, and has a market
capitalization of $17.7m. As a publicly traded corporation
its results are subject to public review.
Several months ago analysts expressed concern that it may
experience falling sales due to various developments.
However this recent report shows that its sales only
increased.
