OPINION & COMMENT

Learning About Joy on Succos

Succos is called by Chazal zman simchoseinu, the time of our simcha. We are obligated to experience simcha, and the Torah summarizes the reason for the horrible punishments in parshas Ki Sovo, as due to a lack of simcha in our worship of Hashem.

SHALOM-TO-YOU!
by Chaim Walder

It was an unusually hot and sticky summer night. The small fans in the dingy dining hall only seemed capable of cooling off the hovering flies. The guests were still busy with the complicated task of drinking and eating while wiping their brows when Shalom-to-you-Moshe came walking in.
