Tens of thousands of avreichim, bnei yeshiva, baalei
batim, women and girls throughout the world have just
begun a new two-halochos-a-day study cycle of the laws of
proper speech. The cycle was set up by HaRav Yehuda Zeev
Segal of Manchester, zt"l, according to the
seforim, Chofetz Chaim and Shemiras Haloshon.
Because this is a leap year, the new cycle began on 20 Iyar
instead of on rosh chodesh Sivan as in regular
years.
According to the schedule, the entire Hilchos Shemiras
Haloshon is completed three times a year. Those
participating acquire an extensive knowledge of the
halochos as well as a keen awareness of their
importance.
With the start of the new cycle, the Notzrei Loshon
Association is selling the required seforim at
neighborhood centers throughout the country: the works of the
Chofetz Chaim as well as Elokai Netzor Leshoni Meiroh
for children, Sama Dichayei, Taharas Haloshon and
Taharas Haloshon Lano'ar, a recently published
illustrated halocho book for youth.
In the wake of the large rally held after Pesach by Notzrei
Loshon to strengthen awareness of the importance of the
mitzvos of shemiras haloshon and mitzvos bein odom
lechavero, there has been a great demand for books on the
subject. 20,000 books were sold during the past month all
over the country, in stores as well as at rallies and private
shiurim.
The book Loshon Chachomim to be published soon will
contain chiddushim on the issue of shemiras
haloshon. Written by yeshiva students and
avreichim, it is in the editing stage. The final date
for submission of chiddushim has been extended to 15
Sivan.
Due to widespread interest in the subject of shemiras
haloshon, Notzrei Loshon representatives have gone to the
United States to strengthen United States participation in
the program. Many book have been sold in yeshivos throughout
the country. A recording of last month's rally held will be
available shortly.
