Barak Appoints Panel on Drafting Yeshiva Students

Prime Minister Ehud Barak has appointed a public committee to
formulate a suitable arrangement for drafting yeshiva
students, as provided in the coalition agreement made with
United Torah Judaism (UTJ).
Israel to Rebuild Part of Quake Area; Israeli Team Rescues

The Israeli rescue teams are to return from Turkey on
Tuesday, as Israel offered to rehabilitate part of the area
damaged by the earthquake.

Last Shabbos No Turbine Part was Transported

The High Court last Friday prevented the transport of a 250-
ton turbine part to Ashkelon over Shabbos by rejecting the
Friedenson Transport Company's request for an interim
injunction to maintain what it called the status quo until
the court hears its petition against the attorney-general,
the police and the minister of labor and social affairs.
Religious Community Requested to Boycott Shabbos-
Desecrating Stores in Yarkonim Junction

In light of the guidelines of maranan verabonon, the
gedolei umeorei hador, rabbonim, roshei yeshiva, Torah-
observant Jews from all circles are asked to boycott the
stores which publicly trample Shabbos in the Yarkonim
junction shopping center in Petach Tikvah.

What do you think of kosher for Pesach bread, for example? Of
course, it would be of unquestionable kashrus, real
mehadrin min hamehadrin, without any halachic
questions of orla, tevel, shevi'is, but . . .
chometz nonetheless. This seems to be impossible? Why
can't it be done?
