The Yesodei HaTorah Nursery (formerly Jewish Day School) in
Manchester, recently underwent a successful Ofsted
inspection.
The Nursery, which is now grant-maintained, has been
established for over 35 years. The building has lately been
extended as well as completely refurbished with the most up
to date educational facilities available.
This is noted in the report which states that the quality of
both the indoor and outdoor accommodation is of a very high
standard and "the effect of this environment enhances and
improves opportunities for the children to make progress."
All aspects of the Nursery were inspected with very positive
and commendable results. The report states that the nursery
promotes desirable outcomes in all areas of educational
provision and praises the staff for their quality of
teaching, planning and assessment, and working together as a
team.
"The children follow the timetable for structured teaching
and staff encourage the children to think. Staff know and
understand the individual children very well so that
individual needs are met."
Great emphasis is placed on encouraging middos
tovos. This did not go unnoticed by the Inspectors as the
report on personal and social development states "the staff
have high expectations of the childrens behavior and the
children are well-behaved and respectful of adults and each
other. When two children accidentally bumped into each other
they smiled to acknowledge this was an accident. The children
work well together and share. A child without fruit is
immediately offered some by another."
The nursery "has good provision for children with special
educational needs."
Not surprisingly the Inspectors comment that "an effective
part of the childrens accomplishments are due to the
excellent partnership between parents and the nursery
staff."
Credit goes to Mrs. Horn, the devoted matron and her staff
for this admirable report which is an outstanding
achievement.
