Remedia Soy Infant Formula Scandal

On Tuesday afternoon at a press conference in Berlin, Humana, manufacturer of the soy-based infant formula distributed in Israel by Remedia, admitted that the product it sent to Israel had only a tenth of the B1 that it was claimed to have, and accepted full responsibility. The company stressed that this was a one-time mistake, and promised to cooperate fully with Israeli authorities.

Israeli Cabinet Narrowly Approves Prisoner Swap

Israel hopes to complete the prisoner swap the cabinet narrowly passed on Sunday by the end of the week. By the slimmest of margins Israel's Cabinet approved the prisoner- swap deal with Hizbullah. But Israel said it would not free any prisoners "with blood on their hands" and Hizbullah still insists on including Samir Kuntar, who murdered three members of one family and an Israeli policeman in 1979.

Following the panic over Remedia infant formula, Hatzoloh of Jerusalem consulted leading doctors and professors at the Health Ministry and Hadassah Hospital, with the assistance of medical consultant Rabbi Binyomin Fisher of Magen LeCholeh. The information gathered has been transmitted to the appropriate figures in the chareidi sector in Eretz Yisroel and abroad. The Remedia company claimed that it does not export the product at all.

Reb Weinreb arrived in Israel together with his brother-in-law, the philanthropist Reb Avraham Reiss, and their families.
