The Ceremony
A deeply moving ceremony took place this past Sunday in the home of HaRav Chaim Kanievsky which heralded the new Keren Hamikvaos established in memory of his late wife, Rebbetzin Bas Sheva Esther Kanievsky, daughter of HaRav Yosef Shalom Eliashiv. In the course of the ceremony, the construction of the new mikveh, named "Beer Sheva," was announced, to be built in the moshav Evven Sapir near Jerusalem. The plan calls for the completion of the building by the Rebbetzin's yahrtzeit on the upcoming Chol Hamoed Succos.
All of the sons and sons-in-law of HaRav shlita and the Rebbetzin ztz"l participated in the event which was opened by the message of their son, HaRav Shlomo, Rosh Yeshivas Kiryas Melech and Tiferes Zion. He said:
"We have gathered here at the founding event of the Keren Mikvo'os and the commencement of the newest mikveh to be built in memory of our mother. The initial sum funding the beginning of the construction has been donated by Rabbi Ezra ben Aliza Azrak and his partner, Menasheh ben Rina, from Panama.
"It is most fitting for our mother, who was so involved throughout her life in helping others both materially and spiritually, and who received women from all walks of life and of all types. Lacking all formal knowledge of psychology or rhetoric, she succeeded in drawing many women who flocked to her and was able to offer them emotional support and assistance, each one according to her individual need, through her loving heart. She was able to imbue them with a love for Hashem, modesty, purity and holiness. This is why there is no better and fitting commemoration than the building of mikvo'os. We trust that Klal Yisroel take part in this endeavor as well."
