Our weekly report of the rain and the level of the Kineret -
5779.
As of March 7 (30 Adar I) 514 millimeters of rain had
fallen in the Jerusalem area during the current season
(August 1 to date). This represents 114% of the average
rainfall for this period and 96% of the average rainfall for
the entire season in the Jerusalem area which is 537 mm.
In most of the country the rainfall is still above the average
rainfall for the period. In many places in the north, they have already gotten the amount they normally receive for the entire season. The main rain months are December, January and February.
The current level of the Kinneret is -212.635 meters below
sea level, which is ABOVE the lower red line of -213 meters. Hurray!
The level rose 28 centimeters over the past week. It continues to rise. Reservoirs in the Golan are completely full and the overflow now goes to the Kineret. So far it has risen almost 2 meters. Last year it rose only .76 meters the entire season. But we are a long way from the upper red line. Keep davening.
