Rain and Kinneret Watch

by Dei'ah Vedibur Staff

Our weekly report of the rain and the level of the Kineret - 5779.

As of January 31 (25 Shvat) 321 millimeters of rain had fallen in the Jerusalem area during the current season (August 1 to date). This represents 107% of the average rainfall for this period and 60% of the average rainfall for the entire season in the Jerusalem area which is 537 mm.

In most of the country the rainfall is still above the average rainfall for the period even though we have not had much rain this past week.

The current level of the Kinneret is -213.575 meters below sea level, which is below the lower red line of -213 meters. The level rose 9.5 centimeters over the past week. It continues to rise from the flow of rain thas has fallen. To get to the red line we need to rise only 0.575 meters. It looks likely that we will get that within a month or so. But keep davening.
