MK Rabbi Yaakov Asher met with local Degel HaTorah representatives from several communities to try to advance the solutions provided in the Electricity Reform that provide for setting up electric generation plants that are fully automatic and kosher for use on Shabbos.
At the meeting they discussed practical and legal steps that are to be taken to implement his aspect of the reform.
One of the first goals agreed upon was to set up a system in Elad, where it will be incorporated in a new development of some 5,000 apartment units. The plan for the new construction allocates a 5 dunam lot (1.25 acres) for an electric generation plant that will operate completely automatically, and will be able to provide electricity on Shabbosim, yom tovim and in emergencies.
