The good living conditions of Israeli cows contribute to their health and the decline of the need for invasive veterinary treatment. A report reflecting this fact was presented to the members of the Tnuva Mehadrin Badatz committee in a monthly joint meeting.
According to the facts presented to the rabbonim by Mr. Ofi Reich, CEO of the agricultural body which unites most veterinarians in the country, and the report of veterinarian Dr. Nir Alpert, the strict supervision in preventing animal cruelty, tzar baalei chaim, which rates high in Israel, is far greater than in European countries.
Regarding a question asked by the rabbonim of the committee as how this finds expression, the agricultural CEO revealed that in Europe, cows are kept in very confined cages and in some places, are shackled with chains while in Israel, cows are kept in more spacious areas which contributes to the health of the cows and the lesser necessity of veterinary invasive surgery.
The result is also that Israeli cows are the most productive in the world.
