Prayer and thanksgiving rallies were held to commemorate the salvation and survival of Jews from the Holocaust, commemorating as well those who died al Kiddush Hashem. This was the fifth worldwide memorial of Jewry, taking place this past weekend 27 Iyar. Thousands of adults and hundreds of children participated in the dozens of rallies which were held in synagogues, memorial sites and schools all over the world.
There was a big gathering in Moscow, as well as Rome, Frankfurt, Warsaw, Pinsk, Leipzig, Vienna and London, as well as at least ten cities in Eretz Yisrael.
Mr. Gavriel Jerman Zecharyov is the man behind this commemorative initiative. He addressed the attendees, saying, "I will continue to imbue communities in Israel with the need to give thanks and praise to the A-mighty and to commemorate His messengers, HY"D, in prayer and through charity, Hachnosas Sifrei Torah, and the study of Mishnayos, as has been our tradition from time immemorial."
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu sent letters of thanks of Mr. Zecharyov, expressing their blessings to those veteran soldiers of the war against the Nazis who contributed their services in liberating the surviving Jews in the death camps and saving the remnant from death.
