In response to the call of HaRav Chaim Kanievsky and HaRav Gershon Eidelstein to intensify Torah study and assume a regimen of Mussar study for the recovery of the father and master of Klal Yisroel, Maran HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman, the Dirshu organization as announced a transcontinental chizuk project to include one hundred thousand participants of the regular Dirshu study programs in the over twenty countries operating them to intensify and broaden their study and to join its new program, "Kinyan Chochmoh" for the study of Mussar.
On Monday, HaRav Eidelstein said to HaRav Chizkiyohu Mishkovsky, Menahel Ruchani of Yeshivas Orchos Chaim, "This generation needs the Rosh Yeshiva and his influence, and to this end, we must increase merits for ourselves and intensify our Torah and Mussar study, and work on self improvement. We must realize that the study of Mussar also counts as Torah study, and surely, reinforcing a steady study program of Mussar is very important."
HaRav Chaim Kanievsky added to HaRav Mishkovsky, "Each and every one must strengthen himself in Torah study and it is surely commendable to intensify Mussar study between the sedorim."
Davening in Lakewood
Chapters of Tehillim are being said in the famous Lakewood yeshiva daily after davening for the speedy recovery of HaRav Shteinman. When HaRav Kanievsky and HaRav Eidelstein issued a call for a three day consecutive regimen of study, their letter was posted on the yeshiva's official bulletin board alongside a table listing hours and slots for names to sustain the program. It was filled out immediately by the students.
One of the roshei yeshiva added his postscript: "It is obvious that whoever cannot study between the sedorim or at night, should nevertheless strengthen his sedorim during Shabbos to study consecutively as much and long as he can for the Rosh Yeshiva's recovery."
Davening in Ramat Elchonon
This reinforced study is very palpable in the yeshiva beis medrash and has extended itself to the various neighboring botei medrash. This past Thursday night in Westgate, there was a huge midnight rally of hundreds of avreichim and bochurim from the yeshiva and neighboring kollelim who recited the entire Sefer Tehillim together with the 13 Middos. The Mizrach wall was populated by the rav, HaRav Avrohom Bromberg, and other distinguished rabbonim from the Lakewood yeshiva, who prayed together aloud, beseeching the One on High to watch over the leader of Torah-true Jewry and enable him to continue to lead Klal Yisroel for many years to come.
