Jerusalem Workshops in English to Deal with Fear

By Y. Shain

Dozens of your couples participated in a workshop on how to deal with terror trauma, organized in Jerusalem by the Israeli Bayit Cham organization. This was meant to counter the reactions from a wave of terror acts which has gripped the country this past month and caused many to turn to the Bayit Cham information hotline.

This hotline provides a personal interaction provided by staff members of Bayit Chaim who answer various questions regarding anxiety and trauma, and where necessary, refer the caller to further medical aid.

The organization has seen that public angst has also targeted young immigrant couples from abroad who are not fluent in Hebrew. To deal with this problem, Bayit Cham has organized a special workshop to teach them how to deal with terror trauma, supplying the public with the professional tools therefor. The recent workshop took place in the Zevihl auditorium in Jerusalem.

The evening was chaired by Rabbi Arye Munk, CEO of Bayit Cham. Addressing the public was social worker Avrohom Friedman on the subject of dealing with terror and fear, with audience interaction on the many questions which disturb the participants.

Rabbi Arye Munk said, "The wave of terror sweeping across the country has also reached chareidi neighborhoods, causing an escalation of trauma symptoms and direct appeals to Bayit Cham. We were able to identify problems especially amongst Anglo-Saxon community which is why we organized a workshop for young English speaking couples to provide them with the necessary emotional tools to deal with their fears lest these have long lasting repercussions in their future lives."
