In the wake of the disastrous accident where six chareidi Jews were killed and twelve others were wounded, HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman came out and stated:
"Hashem seeks to arouse us and wants us to examine our ways and to introspect. Even in the times of the prophets, they did not explicitly tell us why Hashem brought upon us [certain difficulties - except for specific instances like with Yehoshua and the angel who said to him: I have come now.], but [we must acknowledge that] `the ways of Hashem are straightforward... and the wicked shall stumble in them.'
"Consequently, we are obligated to fortify ourselves, and the question is not in which specific area, because there is benefit wherever one chooses to improve, on condition that he undertakes this wholly and wholeheartedly."
