Israeli Population Statistics for 5776

In anticipation of Rosh Hashana, the Israel Bureau of Population and Immigration Registration has issued the following figures for 5776. There were 186,923 births and 45,033 deaths (of Israeli citizens).

During the course of the year, 26,990 new immigrants came and 732,812 new Identification Cards were issued.

On Erev Rosh Hashana of this year, the population of Israel stood at 8,412,000 citizens. During the course of 5775, 168,000 babies were born and 42,000 people passed away.

The Jewish population last year stood at 6.3 million, constituting 74.9% of the population, while the Arab population was 1,746,000 residents, or 20.7% and the non-Arabic Christian population was 366,000 or 4.4%, including unclassified residents according to the Bureau of Population Statistics.
