A moving request sent by HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman to the president of the French republic, M. Francois Holland, was transferred to the Champs Elysees palace through international diplomatic channels.
This rare letter, written in Hebrew with an attached French translation, was addressed directly and personally to the French president, asking him to use his influence with the Algerian authorities to preserve the Jewish cemetery there.
