Jerusalem Farmers Who Keep Shmittah Will not Pay Arnona

Owners of farming land within the jurisdiction of the Jerusalem municipality who do not work their land in 2015, the Shmittah year, will not have to pay the local arnona municipal tax starting on January 1, 2015.
The decision of the Jerusalem municipal council said that for the fiscal year that begins during the fiscal year, a discount of 100% will be given to the holder of farming land who does not make use of his land due to observing Shmittah. This land must have been farmed in at least two of the last three years preceding fiscal year 2015.
