"The study of Mussar promotes an appetite for Torah study," stated HaRav Chaim Kanievsky to the rabbonim of the "Orchos Yosher" organization founded to disseminate and promote the daily study of Orchos Tzaddikim and the beginning of a new cycle of daily study in Mesillas Yeshorim.
As part of the blessing activities of this organization headed by R' Arye Kanievsky, grandson of the HaRav Chaim, there is today an ongoing daily study of Mussar with the aid of special accompanying booklets according to a daily schedule explaining the text , compiled by the rabbonim of "Orchos Yosher," which is studied today by some 20,000 participants in hundreds of Torah institutions and shiurim.
In a visit made by HaRav Chizkiyah Mishkovsky, Mashgiach of Yeshivas Orchos Torah, and HaRav Arye Leib Shapira, Mashgiach of Yeshivas Ponovezh leTzeirim, who are among the organization's rabbonim, which took place in the home of HaRav Shteinman, various activities of the organization were discussed, including ways to increase and reinforce the study of Mussar. In the course of the visit, they asked Maran how one could infuse a greater thirst for Mussar within yeshiva and kollel students, since many of them are not inclined to this study, preferring to study other topics. Maran said that this phenomenon is a very indication that they should study Mussar.
The discussion with HaRav Mishkovsky and HaRav Shapira will be presented in its entirety in this coming weekend edition of the Hebrew Yated Ne'eman in Israel.
Following a full cycle of daily Mussar study of Orchos Tzaddikim and the commencement of a daily study of Mesillas Yeshorim, the organization plans to hold an uplifting assembly celebration thereof in the coming weeks, to be attended by gedolei Yisrael in order to reinforce the study of Mussar.
