Checking the Kashrus of Shofaros for Free

A letter from major poskim publicized these past years has evoked considerable response regarding the severe obstacle found in many shofaros produced without adequate supervision, where many of these were discovered to be perforated with holes plugged up with glue, something that is visible only upon expert inspection. It was regrettably discovered that such shofaros were used on Rosh Hashana, invalidating the shofar-blowing. The foremost poskim call upon the public of shofar-blowers to be vigilant in checking their shofaros for kashrus.
In view of this severe stumbling block, the botei hora'a in Bnei Brak headed by HaRav Nissim Karelitz, have established a special headquarters for examining shofaros, without charge, manned by an expert with dozens of years experience in checking them. This specialist has assumed this weighty responsibility in order to prevent obstacles. The examination of shofaros will be performed through his guidance and under the supervision of the Rosh Av Beis Din of Bnei Brak, HaRav Yisroel Rosenberg.
