It is public knowledge that the Internet has made terrible inroads in Jewish homes, felling many souls to perdition, Rachmono Litzlan.
The halachic ruling has been publicized that it is severely forbidden to use unrestricted Internet even for one's livelihood, and that workplaces which require Internet must have adequate filtering and blockage.
A new organization has been formed, the Ve'idas HaRabbonim Levitzur Chomos Hadas, which provides experienced professional counselors who guide employees on how to block unfiltered Internet with a halachically proper blockage. Many have been helped by this service.
We hereby arouse and encourage anyone whose has a family member who works in an office that requires use of Internet to make the necessary inquiries to block it properly.
In place of doubt, he should consult those rabbonim who are knowledgeable in the matter and who direct this consultation body, and in cases where the blockage is inadequate, we call upon the administrators of those institutions and offices to carefully examine their existing means of screening whether it adheres to the halachic specifications.
It is very obvious that where there is no question of livelihood involved, one must distance oneself even from the filtered Internet which also has its pitfalls.
Surely those who protect themselves from forbidden things will be rewarded with bountiful parnossa in the permissible way. By safeguarding the holiness of our camp, we will remove the wrath of Hashem from us and live to see, soon, consolation and salvation from Hashem.
