"You today have the privilege of doing something of lasting, significant value in the eyes of Hashem, and that is the establishment of a place of Torah where it can be studied in purity and sanctity without distortion." These exalted words were uttered this past Monday by HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman in an address to hundreds of talmidim of Yeshiva Gedolah Torah BeTifartoh which was founded in Ashdod. It was also attended by many local avreichim who came to hear the living Torah words and who expressed deep satisfaction at being present at this exalted occasion of the establishment of a pure place of Torah study in their midst.
This yeshiva was opened on Sunday per the directive of HaRav Shteinman so that Torah could indeed be studied in its "pure and glorious form", together with the esteemed rabbonim of the yeshiva, Rav Ephraim Rothschild; Rav Dovid Epstein, son-in-law of HaRav Chaim Kanievsky and Rav Avrohom Yeshaya Sokolovsky.
The rabbonim and talmidim had been at yeshivas Knesset Yitzchok in Chadeira. After many and long efforts to avoid it, HaRav Shteinman ruled that the ramim and talmidim should leave the yeshiva in Chadeira and start a new yeshiva. The yeshiva in Chadeira had close to 600 talmidim. A substantial number have left because of recent issues.
