Impressive and exalting events took place last week in Lakewood as part of the major event organized by Yeshivas Beis Medrash Govoha, with the participation of HaRav Arye Finkel and the roshei yeshiva of the Lakewood Yeshiva.
Just before setting out for Lakewood, the president of Dirshu, Rabbi Dovid Hofstedter, visited HaRav Gershon Edelstein in his home for words of encouragement to be conveyed at the convention in Lakewood as part of a chizuk campaign planned by Dirshu.
"The challenge of our generation is to support Torah and its scholars," said HaRav Edelstein. "This is the message which the Jews of America are supposed to hear at this time. We must provide our rabbonim with their needs and raise Torah to heights in every place and community."
The central historic event took place on the Wednesday evening of the week of Parshas Chukas in a huge tent especially erected adjoining the Lakewood yeshiva. Thousands of avreichim converged upon it from all over Lakewood and its environs, Torah scholars from all over who devote all their vigor to Torah study.
Rosh Yeshiva Mir of Brachfeld, HaRav Arye Finkel, who came especially bearing the blessing of HaRav Shteinman, presented the keynote address to an assembly of thousands of avreichim from Lakewood and many dozens of esteemed rabbonim from all over America, among them roshei yeshiva, roshei chaburos and noted poskim.
