Special Prayers on Erev Rosh Chodesh

Under the headline, "Assembling in Times of Trouble to Pour Forth Prayer", our gedolei Yisroel: HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman and HaRav S. Wosner, appealed strongly to all communities everywhere to assemble on Wednesday, Erev Rosh Chodesh Shvat, in the shuls, yeshivos, kollelim and halls of chinuch, for the Yom Kippur Kotton prayers, that we cry out and rouse ourselves to teshuva in response to the terrible decree of the army draft crouching at our doors through the low, base and threatening objective of thinning out the halls of our precious yeshivos.
The letter of appeal issued by the Torah elders of our generation, written by the Rosh Yeshiva, stated: "This is a time when darkness covers the land and the enemies of Hashem rear their ugly heads through decrees and persecution of chareidi Jewry and the Torah world, and attempt to breach the fortresses of our sacred tradition through the decree of the draft, seeking to undermine the inviolable education of our young sons whose very breath is the mainstay and saving power of the world."
