Urgent Meeting of Yemenite Roshei Yeshiva and Rabbonim

Dozens of Roshei Yeshiva and rabbonim from the Yemenite community gathered this week in Bnei Brak to voice an anguished protest against the imminent threat of drafting yeshiva students and chareidi persecution by the government in general. "We are obligated to regard this period as a real war, and to protest vehemently and rend the gates of Heaven, to pray every day that this decree be abolished," the rabbonim declared in great pain.
The meeting was opened with heightened emotion, as the roshei yeshiva, heads of kollelim and communal rabbonim of the Yemenite community demanded that the public arouse itself and cry out in every kehilla of Yemenite Jews to increase prayers and intensive Torah study as a saving measure against the draft, and to pray fervently that we be able to preserve Torah in its purity without any outside interference in our holy yeshivos.
