"The Damage to the Chareidi Public in Jerusalem Neighborhoods Has Crossed the Red Line"
The United Torah Jewry representatives in the Jerusalem municipality met this past Monday with Mayor Nir Barakat to unequivocally clarify the position of the chareidi public regarding the city's unending attempts to alter the character of those neighborhoods with mixed [i.e. secular-religious] populations, while adamantly insisting that the plans for establishing sport centers and open swimming pools in the Country Area in south of the Ramot Alef neighborhoods be abolished. They clearly and unwaveringly demanded that these plans be halted immediately, including any intervention in the natural course of commercial tenders in this neighborhood that are opened to the general public.
Rise in Anti-Semitic Acts in Venezuela
The umbrella organization of all the Jewish organizations in Venezuela, CAIV, published its "Report on Anti-Semitism for 2013" in which it described an alarming rise in anti-Semitic incidents in the country during the past year. The report focuses on the government media and online social media in Venezuela. This rise was manifested despite the change in government as a result of the death of the revolutionary leader, Hugo Chavez, who launched anti-Semitic rhetoric and severed all ties with Israel.
The great yeshiva of R' Chaim of Volozhin was handed after his passing into the trustworthy hands of his son, R' Itzele, who stood at its helm until his last day.

Part II
Hakodosh Boruch Hu established two yeshivos for Yisroel so that they should be studying [Torah] day and night. Klal Yisroel's yeshivos are the chariot upon which Hashem's Presence rests and through them it comes to rest upon the entire nation. Torah has been studied in the world since the day it was created, without interruption. Yaakov Ovinu sent Yehuda ahead to Mitzrayim to establish a yeshiva, because it was essential for him and his family.
