Torah Leadership Provide Reinforcement for Bein Hazmanim
Many hundreds of avreichim and yeshiva students participated in a Chizuk Rally for bnei yeshivos at the beginning of the bein hazmanim period to fortify toil in Torah and to preserve the character and makeup of Torah students. The rally took place on Sunday in the Nachalas Moshe beis medrash in Bnei Brak and was broadcast directly on screens erected in the large square nearby. Torah leadership and roshei yeshiva aroused the public to the obligation of reinforcing Torah study precisely in these hectic times which encourage laxity, and the importance of preserving the true character of a Torah scholar which is our defense against the treacherous breaches and ills of the outside world.
Will Le Pen's Front National Party Attempt to Force Jewish Children to Eat Pork?
The head of the extreme rightist Front National party in France, Mrs. Marine Le Pen, who won a rousing victory in the last local elections, announced at the end of last week that she intends to remove the pork substitute foods from the school menus of the municipalities under her jurisdiction. In an interview to the RTL radio broadcasting station, she declared that she refuses to capitulate to religious demands regarding the menus of municipal educational institutions. "There is no reason that religion should play a role in public life. There are laws to regulate such things," she said, claiming again that "we must preserve secularism in France."

The wicked son, we are told, would not have been redeemed from Mitzrayim, had he been there at the time. He would not have been worthy. But there were really many Yidden who were lost in Mitzrayim. Chazal say that 80 percent were killed during the plague of darkness because they were reshoim.
by Rav Dov Eliach
The following is translated and adapted from the monumental three-volume work HaGaon by Rav Dov Eliach. It is taken from the second volume, chapter 21, entitled, "Toras Hashem Temimoh."
by Mordecai Plaut
This material is taken from the recently released new two- volume sefer containing hitherto unpublished or unavailable material, entitled Sefer Zikoron: Michtav MeEliyohu. There are over 500 new letters of Rav Dessler, plus hitherto unpublished shmuessen and other material. There are also many ma'amorim that were written especially for these volumes, and works written about Rav Dessler that are not available elsewhere. Many of the letters contain valuable insights that are entirely new.
