Rededication in Yeshivos to Torah Study and Organized Prayers

By Y. Sever and Y. Rosner

The regular study sessions in the yeshivos are witnessing a remarkable rededication, while special prayers have also been organized in many communities for the salvation of Klal Yisroel in view of the threatening situation in Eretz Yisroel, as many cities and towns in the south are being ceaselessly bombarded. It is hoped that the renewed fervor of study and prayer will invoke Hashem's mercy for his people so that He protect us from all danger.

Added to the increased study and prayer both quantitative and qualitative, are the Torah institutions for the young. Children in chadorim and elementary Bais Yaakov schools are joining with their heartfelt prayers to avert the threat.

By order of HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman, yeshiva students and kollel avreichim have begun adding the following pirkei Tehillim: 83, 130 and 142 at the end of each study session. We cannot help but perceive the amazing daily chessed of Hashem, as rockets fall in open spaces without claiming victims. Nevertheless, the inhabitants of southern towns are living in constant dread and danger. And so do we all continue to pray that Hashem nullify the evil plans of our enemies and show mercy upon His people very speedily.

The Sanzer Rebbe addressed his following with this message: "This is a time of suffering for Jewry, for Yaakov, with tens of thousands requiring massive heavenly help, living in terror and fright for the future, not knowing what the morrow will bring. They see the dire realization of the prophecy, where `Outside the sword fells [its victims] and inside, the fear.' Thousands of Jews have abandoned their homes in the south and have gone wandering afar with children and belongings, driven by the fear in their hearts and the fear of the sights before their very eyes."

The Mashgiach, HaRav Dov Yaffe also spoke to his assembled students about the difficult situation in the area. "Boruch Hashem, at least here things are quiet, but the situation in the country as a whole is not simple, for aside from those injured, there are many suffering from the trauma of panic.

"We must share the anguish of our brethren in the south and pray for them from the depths of our hearts, for by natural circumstances, we are not safe at all. May Hashem preserve us and have mercy. We must try to help Klal Yisroel and increase those merits that can protect us all."
