The blessed rains falling last week have already stopped but the steady flow from northern streams into the Kinneret is continuing to swell it nonetheless.
In the 24 hours of this past Shabbos, the water level rose an additional two centimeters, bringing it to 212 meters under sea level; one meter above the lowest red line and 3.2 meters under the upper red line signifying a full lake.
In the course of these past rains, from Thursday morning till Sunday morning, the level jumped by 23 centimeters, a record rise for the past twenty years in such a short time.
Now, with a relatively rainy fall season behind us which contributed 35 centimeters of water to the Kinneret, the Lake Authority is waiting for the winter rains which are hoped to provide the main amount of water which it so badly needs.
